If you have ever acted in/stage managed/made sets or costumes or in any other way been involved in theatre, this is the movie for you! Stellar acting. The movie arrived in perfect condition. Not here though. The second half is a miracle of planning and timing.

Apparently both versions were great and it is still a joke and fun memory in my family. Story revolves around the Polish legion under command of... A travelling theater group find so much action going on behind-the-scenes, they almost ruin the performances. It has a stellar comedy cast and they are at their comedic best. Great film with a sprinkling of belly-laughs/laugh out load moments. The late great Christopher Reeves shows us that he was a much much better actor than he was in Superman A fabulous zany comic romp around and behind a stage. Usually, when there is an all-star cast, you can't tell who the main characters are; everybody shines out and you are never sure where the story is going. You see the action from the audience's point of view, then the same Act from the backstage and the last part is from the audience point of view again; but with the added insanity! I purchased this movie because our local theatre is performing the play. As with any group of actors forced to work closely together for any great length of time, romances and arguments are bound to break out. I think the play is more impressive on stage because of all the choreographed in and outs which were dazzling to see in a production which we saw at the Colchester Mercury but a pleasant watch on video all the same.
